seen here in the 1930s. Did it have flying control then? There is no obvious control facility but there is some technical equipment (?) on the roof of the terminal. No signal square is visible.

  1. Civilian airfields didn’t have signals squares, they were a wartime military requirement with so many airfields almost over lapping each other.
    Also for conditions of radio silence and the majority of training aircraft didn’t carry radios.
    Civilian Airfields were marked with a large white painted landing circle and quite often the airfields name was painted in the centre of it.
