UK Loss of Licence insurance 1965

In the 1960s this was quite a revolutionary step. It had been pioneered by the pilots’ associations and the Guild of Air Traffic Control Officers negotiated a similar scheme to benefit controllers in the UK and local Crown Dependencies.

Whenever GATCO  officers were asked about the Guilds achievements this was always quoted as one of the jewels in its crown, another, 12 years later, was its work on the limitation of ATCO working hours described below.
